On the ground floor there is a large open spacious living room with fireplace, satellite TV, DVD player, stereo, free Wi-Fi. This large holiday villa spreads on almost over 300m2 and can accommodate up to 12 guests. The newly-refurbished Villa Friuli Karst offers a blend of modernity and tradition with high-quality fittings and furnishings combined with typical Karst features. Day trips to Venice or even into the Slovenian Alps are also easily possible. It is less than an hour's drive or so to the Slovenian Adriatic and its beautiful Venetian town of Piran and the same to Ljubljana, Slovenia's charming capital. If this is not enough, the Italian Adriatic coast is just 15 km away with a huge range of attractions in the Gulf of Trieste in easy reach including the fascinating city of Trieste itself (25km). It also offers amongst its highlights the spectacular Unesco protected Skocjanske Jame cave system, which features one of the worlds deepest underground canyons, the equally impressive Postojna Caves and the world famouse Lipica stud - home of the Lippizaner breed made famous by the Spanish Riding School in Vienna and also offering excellent golf. Dotted with charming stone villages (amongst which Štanjel is perhaps the best known and most beautiful - just a few kilometres form the house), criss-crossed with some wonderful walking and biking trails, and with countless wineries and excellent restaurants, the region is fascinating for exploring. It is also home to Slovenia's best prosciutto or "pršut" in Slovene and excellent cheeses and other local gastronomic specialities. It is in the heart of the Karst region with a wine growing heritage that goes back two millennia and home to the celebrated Teran red mentioned as far back as Roman times and whose name comes from the typical local "Terra Rossa" or "red earth". Villa Friuli holiday house is situated in the traditional, sleepy Karst village of Skrbina a few kilometres from Komen in the midst of beautiful tranquil countryside, surrounded by rolling hills and vineyards.
